The New England Patriots announced Tuesday that they have placed wide receiver Julian Edelman on injured reserve with a foot injury, effectively ending his season.
According to WBZ, Edelman will have to undergo surgery to repair a broken foot suffered during the fourth quarter Sunday's win against the Miami Dolphins.
Edelman was seen leaving Sun Life Stadium on crutches and in a walking boot after Sunday’s game, and the move to sign wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth further suggested that the Pats were preparing for life without Edelman.
While Stallworth may be able to fill his contributions in the passing game, the biggest hurdle may be replacing Edelman on special teams, where he’s scored two touchdowns this season.
