The Boston Red Sox continue to be active at baseball's winter meetings.

Alex Speier of WEEI reported late Tuesday afternoon that the Red Sox inked free agent outfielder Shane Victorino to a three-year deal. ESPN's Gordon Edes reported that the contract will pay Victorino $39 million.

The Red Sox emerged as favorites to land Victorino over the course of an active day in Nashville.

Victorino, a 32-year old switch hitter, has spent the bulk of his nine-year major league career playing for the Philadelphia Phillies.

He was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in July and struggled afterward, hitting just .245 with two home runs and 15 stolen bases for the Dodgers.

He's been better than that for most of his career, though.

Victorino stole 39 bases in 2012, the fourth time in his career he's exceeded 30 stolen bases in a season.

He is a career .275 hitter with a career .770 OPS and is expected to play right field for the Red Sox.
