Remember these names: Ryan Maniello and James Stawarz. As a freshman and a sophomore, respectively, this duo is primed to be the future of the South Hadley High School boys swimming team. They're not doing a bad job in the present, either.

As a freshman and a sophomore, respectively, this duo is primed to be the future of the South Hadley High School boys swimming team. They're not doing a bad job in the present, either.
Despite South Hadley's thin roster, Maniello and Stawarz made their performances count in a 41-14 Patriot League loss to visiting Chicopee Comprehensive.
Maniello, a freshman, won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, while Stawarz, a sophomore, took first in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke. Both have been steady contributors all season.
"Ryan and James are definitely very solid," South Hadley coach Tara Doyle said. "They're very encouraging to the other swimmers."
After being the only members last year, the duo recruited Dante Pio and Michael Miele to join the squad this season.
"We're looking to their leadership to help grow the team," Doyle said.
