MLB Network will carry Friday night's 7:10 p.m. Red Sox-Royals game nationally. That'll be the Red Sox's first game back since the Marathon explosions on Patriots' Day, and the team is planning a special ceremony.

CLEVELAND — MLB Network will carry Friday night's 7:10 p.m. Red Sox-Royals game nationally. That'll be the Red Sox's first game back since the Marathon explosions on Patriots' Day, and the team is planning a tribute to the victims and the city.

This won't affect local Boston viewership, which can still find the game on NESN. Clay Buchholz is scheduled to start for the Sox against former American League East rival James Shields.

Matt Vasgersian, John Smoltz and Tom Verducci will call the game on MLB Network, and Peter Gammons will join the game telecast and do studio work as well.

MLB Network’s telecast will be blacked out in the Red Sox’ and Royals’ home television territories. MLB Network will carry the Braves' and Pirates' game instead.

• Two Red Sox minor leaguers were suspended Wednesday. From the league:

Right-handed pitcher Gerson Bautista has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Metabolites of Stanozolol. The suspension of Bautista, who is on the roster of the Dominican Summer League Red Sox, is effective at the start of the DSL season.

Left-handed pitcher Miguel Pena has received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse. The suspension of Pena, who is on the roster of the Single-A Salem Red Sox of the Carolina League, is effective immediately.
