Ainge and assistant general manager Ryan McDonough reportedly visited the Greek city of Volos, where they sat courtside and took notes as top international prospect Giannis Adetokunbo scored 19 points to go along with nine rebounds for his Filathlitikos team.
Boston Celtics president of basketball opertations Danny Ainge's quest to gather information on NBA Draft prospects took him to Greece this week, according to the website EuroHoops.net.
Ainge and assistant general manager Ryan McDonough reportedly visited the Greek city of Volos, where they sat courtside and took notes as top international prospect Giannis Adetokunbo scored 19 points to go along with nine rebounds for his Filathlitikos team.
McDonough recently estimated that he keeps scouting tabs on 750-1,000 players worldwide.
Hilariously, the EuroHoops report reads that local fans started cursing Ainge because they thought he was associated with Filathlitikos. When the fans learned who Ainge was, they started telling him that everyone in Volos likes the Lakers.
DraftExpress ranks the 18-year old Adetokunbo, a 6-foot-9, 196-pound small forward, as the 28th-best draft prospect overall and the second-best international prospect born in 1994. Highly-regarded for his length (7-foot-3 wingspan) and versatility (he even plays some point guard), Adetokunbo is currently projected as the 26th pick in the 2013 draft.
