The Boston Bruins made some minor moves before the 3 p.m. NHL trade deadline Wednesday afternoon which included adding defensive depth.

Bruins general manager confirmed the acquisition of St. Louis Blues blueliner Wade Redden in exchange for a 2014 seventh round draft pick. If Redden plays in one or more games during the playoffs, the pick becomes a sixth round.

Boston also swapped American Hockey League prospects Max Sauve for Rob Flick of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Redden, 35, has played in 23 games for the Blues this season with two goals and three assists.

He was teammates with Bruins captain Zdeno Chara when they were both playing on the Ottawa Senators.

Flick, 22, is a 2010 fourth round draft pick. He has skated in 51 games with Chicago's AHL-affiliate Rockford IceHogs with three goals, two assists and 97 penalty minutes.

Sauve, 23, was drafted by the Bruins in 2008 the second round. In 52 games with the P-Bruins, he netted 10 goals and 13 assists with a plus-3 rating.
