Bradley could be on the verge of earning an Opening Day roster spot.
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The first start in left field in the Red Sox career of Jackie Bradley Jr. will come on a windy Sunday in Clearwater, Fla.
The sensational rookie will play left and bat seventh against the Philadelphia Phillies. Jonny Gomes will DH and hit sixth.
Bradley played the last two innings in left against Toronto Friday. All he did was make two putouts and throw out a runner at home.
Bradley's play appears to be breaking down Boston's reluctance to keep him on the Opening Day roster. David Ortiz' injury opens up the DH spot, which could be rotated among several players with Gomes a prime candidate.
Shane Victorino will play right field. The former Phillies outfielder got a warm pregame reception from his old team's fans in Clearwater.
