A Greyhound bus carrying the Harlem Globetrotters was involved in a minor crash on Interstate 290 this morning, according to state police.
MARLBOROUGH -- The storm that struck on the last day of winter may not leave a lasting impression in terms of snowfall totals, but it can claim one bit of notoriety after a Greyhound bus carrying the Harlem Globetrotters was struck by a car that spun out of control on a slick roadway this morning.
No one was injured in the 8:23 a.m. crash on Route 290 in Marlborough.
In a statement posted to the Massachusetts State Police Facebook page, an agency spokesman wrote that the Globetrotters' bus was traveling eastbound on Route 290 when it was struck by a Pontiac driven by a 30-year-old Auburn woman.
Police said the woman's car spun out on the slick highway and made contact with the basketball team's bus. No charges were filed in connection with the crash, police said.
Police were able to clear the scene within 25 minutes and sent the Globetrotters on their way. The bus was able to continue drive from the scene, but the woman's car was towed.
"Unfortunately for the Washington Generals," a state police spokesman quipped, "the Globetrotters were hardly delayed."
The Globetrotters are scheduled to play in Bangor, Maine tonight, according to the team website.
