Expect president of basketball operations Danny Ainge to ink a free agent sooner rather than later.
The Boston Celtics need another big man like Daniel LaRusso needed the crane kick, like hot dogs need ketchup, like New Englanders need shovels, like the Sacramento Kings need a clue. After trading Jason Collins, Boston's frontcourt is thinner than referee Joey Crawford's hair.
Expect president of basketball operations Danny Ainge to ink a free agent sooner rather than later, since Boston's only four healthy big men are Kevin Garnett, Brandon Bass, Chris Wilcox and Fab Melo.
One player to keep an eye on: D.J. White, who has averaged 6.3 points and 3.4 rebounds over a four-year NBA career, but signed in China this season.
Hearing that Celtics have former Charlotte big man D.J. White in their sights for 10-day deal now that White's season in China is over

According to the Boston Herald, other names being discussed by the Celtics include Jerome Jordan, Tim Ohlbrecht, Shavlik Randolph and Louis Amundson.
White would represent an offensive upgrade from Collins, but he hasn't been a great rebounder for his position and -- at 6-foot-9 -- probably can't play much center. But let's face it: At this stage of the season, pretty much any 7-footer who can play is already on an NBA roster.
The Celtics will be looking for someone to play 8-10 minutes a game, as Collins did before getting dealt to the Washington Wizards. White could be a good option in that role.
