FOXBOROUGH – Tom Brady doesn’t give himself much time for mourning. If something bad happens, he may sit around and ponder it for a night, but by the time he returns the next morning, it’s all business.
So, when he was asked about Rob Gronkowski’s broken forearm Tuesday, he didn’t have much to say. The even is 48 hours in the rearview and his sights are now on the New York Jets.
“I haven’t been thinking about when he’s coming back. He’s not playing this week, and we have to go out there and win without him,” Brady said. “And there’s a lot of guys that are capable of making plays for us, and that’s where my attention is focused – on the guys that are going to try to help us win this game.”
Harsh, perhaps, but Brady doesn’t have time to worry about things outside of this week’s opponent. Coming off of Sunday’s win over the Colts, the Patriots were only granted three days to prepare for Thursday night’s kickoff.
Any minute worrying about Gronkowski, or anything else, is valuable time taken away from where the focus should be.
“We don’t have much [time],” Brady said. “We leave tomorrow, and hopefully everyone is spending their time wisely, not playing video games and stuff like that. Trying to understand and what we need to do. It’s a very tough place to play.”
