Ellis has struggled to get on the field this season.
This season hasn’t gone at all as New England Patriots defensive end Shaun Ellis had hoped.
Signed to a one-year, $4 million deal during following offseason hip surgery; Ellis has struggled to get on the field and has played just 103 snaps since starting the first six games of the season.
His 14 tackles and one sack are easily the lowest totals of his 12-year career, and Ellis readily admits that it has been a trying and disappointing season.
"It's been challenging," Ellis said. "It's been a little difficult, but just hanging in there, just trying to lend my hand when I can. When my number is called, I just go out there and play. In the end, I'm a pro. So I just go about my business as usual. Once that time comes, I'm ready for it."
With Andre Carter out for the season with a quad injury, Ellis could be leaned on to play a bigger role in the playoffs.
