Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara served as one of the two captains with Ottawa forward Daniel Alfredsson in the second year of the new format as his team went on to win, 12-9 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.

Chara was able to draft all of his fellow Bruins teammates, forward Tyler Seguin and goalie Tim Thomas.

Thomas was the top vote-getter for goalies for his fourth-straight All-Game Game appearance.

He came in for the third period and finished with 18 saves to earn his fourth consecutive All-Star Game win.

Seguin assisted on Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul's goal, which was the last of the game. Maple Leafs forward and ex-Bruin Phil Kessel had the other assist.

During the draft, Chara avoided picking any Vancouver Canucks players who included forwards Daniel and Henrik Sedin and defenseman Alexander Elder, as Daniel Alfredsson

The media tried to stir the pot by claiming Chara said he'd never take any Canucks players, but was quickly shot down.

In the SuperSkills competition, Chara broke his own record in the Hardest Shot category with a 108.8 miles per hour mark.
