Even after two World Series championships, memories of "The Curse" live on for Boston Red Sox fans.
The "Bill Buckner Ball" - yes, the one that trickled through the legs of the Boston first baseman in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series against the New York Mets - is up for auction. You can view Lot 80987 from Auction #7051 at the Heritage Auctions website.
The Sox were one strike away from their first World Championship since 1918 when Mets outfielder Mookie Wilson hit the infamous dribbler up the first base line that scored the winning rum in Game 6. The Mets went on to win Game 7 for the title. Sox fans would have to wait until 2004 to break "The Curse."
The auction ends May 4. The current high bid for the ball, once owned by actor Charlie Sheen, is $55,000.
