The 6-foot-5 Lamb became just the sixth sophomore in UConn history to score 1,000 career points.
STORRS, Conn. (AP) — University of Connecticut sophomore guard Jeremy Lamb has declared for the NBA draft.
The 19-year-old from Norcross, Ga. led the Huskies in scoring last season at 17.7 points per game, and was a key part of the team that won the NCAA championship in 2011.
Lamb said in a statement released Tuesday by UConn that it was a difficult decision to go professional but it is in the best interest of his family.
UConn coach Jim Calhoun said he looks forward to seeing Lamb develop into a "terrific player" in the NBA.
