The former coach said the athletic director told him he would be replaced by Asian coaches.

A freshmen baseball coach in Minnesota was fired last week.

Ho-hum.

The coach said he was fired because of his race.

Scratch that ho-hum.

Michael Grover said he and his assistant, who are both white, were let go from their positions at Johnson Senior High School because of their race. Grover was told he wouldn't be returning a week before the season by athletic director Jeff Plaschko, who's also the varsity baseball coach.

After two good seasons, the freshmen team won just two games last year. Grover said the team's poor performance was a reason why he and his assistant were canned.

However, in an interview with the Pioneer Press in St. Paul, Grover also said, "He said he wants to replace us with Asian coaches because he wants more Hmong players on the team."

Johnson has a 50-percent Asian enrollment. There were no Asians on the freshmen team last season.

One report said Plaschko is on paid administrative leave.

Hmmm.
