Rules violations caused the NCAA to vacate Final Four runs by Calipari's UMass and Memphis squads.
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky coach John Calipari says Friday he's a couple of years younger than he feels on his 53rd birthday.
"Two years got vacated, so I'm 51," he deadpanned.
Calipari, along with former Kentucky and current Louisville coach Rick Pitino, are the only two men to lead three different programs to the Final Four. The NCAA later vacated the Final Four runs by the Calipari-led teams at Massachusetts (1996) and Memphis (2008) for rules violations.
The top-ranked Wildcats (24-1, 10-0 Southeastern Conference) play Vanderbilt (17-7, 6-3) on Saturday.
Calipari says he got breakfast in bed for his birthday, which he called a family tradition.
"Oatmeal," he said. "You have to do it presidential — coffee, two Splenda and cream and a napkin."
