Also, Kevin Durant not impressed with Griffin's dunk - can you say bitter?
Blake Griffin consistently puts out highlight reel dunks on a game-to-game basis. It's no secret that he's a freak of nature, but his dunk on Oklahoma City Thunder's Kendrick Perkins... just wow.
You have to feel a little bad for Perkins. The former Boston Celtic star was on the receiving end of what people are calling the dunk of the year.
The world of Twitter lit up, with praise to Griffin on the monster dunk. There was only one tweet though, that Perkins just wasn't happy about and he made it known.
The tweet came from Lebron James, or King James, if you will:
Dunk of the Year!! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!! Wow!! I guess I'm #2 now. Move over #6
If you haven't seen Griffin's ridiculous dunk, here it is:
I will warn you though, it's so good, you'll probably watch it about three or four times.
Again I'd like to point out that Griffin is a freak of nature. But also, you didn't see Perkins back down did you? He stepped in, tried to contest the shot and took it like a champ. I respect Perkins for that because a lot of people would've just stepped to the side rather than let Griffin dunk on them like that.
After seeing Lebron's tweet, Perkins blasted him, saying he's an attention hound.
"You don't see Kobe tweeting," Perkins said. "You don't see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you're an elite player, plays like that don't excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play. I just feel (James) is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him."
You tell him Perk.
What I think is even worse than Lebron's tweet, was the way Kevin Durant (Perkins' teammate) reacted to the dunk.
Durant said, according to Yahoo Sports, that he didn't have much appreciation for Griffin's dunk.
"It was a layup, I think. He threw the ball in and got fouled and made a free throw. So it's three points at the end of the day."
"If it wasn't against us, maybe I would have said it was a good play."
He sounds a little bitter if you ask me.
What's your take on all of this? Is Perkins right to blast Lebron? Is Durant just acting like a baby? Share your opinion in the comments below.
Please excuse me while I go watch Griffin's dunk a couple hundred more times.
