Four Minutemen earn CAA first-team all-conference honors.
Overlooked in all the fanfare surrounding the firing of UMass football coach Kevin Morris and the speculation of who will replace him was the honoring of 11 Minutemen to the CAA all-conference teams.
Seniors Tyler Holmes, Julian Talley, Jess Julmiste and Emil Igwenagu all made first-team from UMass.
The CAA put out the whole list and has player of the year honors as well. Have to question the pick of William & Mary's Jonathan Grimes as special teams player of the year. Julmiste had the second best kick return average and is the only player to return two for touchdowns.
Julmiste also earned first-team honors as a kick returner. Grimes made first-team as a running back.
Grimes was ranked the seventh best kick returner but seems to have been given credit for his all-purpose numbers. If the CAA wants to honor a player for his body of work then it should create a new category.
