TORONTO — The question around Shane Victorino now seems to be whether he'll be able to play in Texas, not Toronto. The Red Sox outfielder was out of the linuep again Tuesday, for a fifth straight game, with a lower back injury.
Sox manager John Farrell said the team isn't ruling out the possibility that Victorino could play in Toronto, but it seems they'll wait to get through this series before potentially putting Victorino on the disabled list.
"He's showing some improvement," Farrell said. "Went out, hit in the cage off a tee. He threw, went through some not only treatment but some other exercises in the gym. While he's not available tonight, there is improvement continuing to be made.
"We're hopeful there's a chance (he could play this series), as we get toward the end of this series though we may have to consider some roster change. But based on the improvement he's shown we're still hopeful."
