After keeping University of Massachusetts basketball fans on the edge of their seats for nearly a month, junior point guard Chaz Williams announced Sunday night that he would be returning to Amherst for his senior season and not entering the NBA Draft.

Williams made his announcement via Twitter as the midnight deadline approached for players to announce their decisions.

Williams is coming off of a stellar junior season in which he led the Minutemen with 15.5 ppg and led the Atlantic 10 in assists with 7.3 per game. His performance earned him a berth on the A-10 first team for a second-straight season.

If Williams had decided to go pro, it would have left a large void for UMass coach Derek Kellogg to fill after the reported departure of guard Jesse Morgan as well.

But Williams has decided to return to man the Minutemen backcourt where he will now be joined by sophomore transfer Derrick Gordon and sophomore Trey Davis.
