BOSTON — Shane Victorino's back tightened up on him again Wednesday, and the Red Sox pulled him in the seventh inning of a 6-5 win over the A's at Fenway Park. He felt it during his at-bat in the bottom of the sixth.
"His back tightened up again in the last at-bat," manager John Farrell said. "Not as severe as the last time when he missed the game. We took him out for precautionary reasons. We'll check him again tomorrow. But smart move on his part, when he felt it, to just shut it down at that point."
Victorino also left a game early Saturday because of his back, after a bunt play led to him twisting awkwardly.
