Baseball: Noah Parker fans 17 and allows one walk.
Almost perfect.
That was the case for St. Mary High School pitcher Noah Parker on Friday. The senior pitcher struck out 17 batters and walked just one, tossing a no-hitter in a 5-0 victory over visiting Franklin Tech.
Parker's walk came in the second inning, and he put only four balls in play.
"Like I told the kids at the end of the game, it's one of those games where you just tip your hat in appreciation of the pitcher," Franklin Tech coach Brian Winslow said. "He was dominant."
The closest Parker came to surrendering a hit was in the first inning. Cody Booska's shot up the middle deflected off Parker, but shortstop Matt Plasse was able to get the out at first base.
At the plate, Parker went 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored.
