The Minutemen have registered 72 goals this season in 22 games
In recent years, there have been times when the University of Massachusetts hockey team had to scrape and claw for goals.
But this season, the Minutemen have now broken into the to 10 nationally in scoring, coming in this week at No. 9, with an average of 3.27 goals per game with 72 goals in 22 contests.
And scoring matters. The No. 1 team in offense is also the No. 1 team in the country overall - Minnesota-Duluth with 3.96 goals per game.
Boston University is third nationally in scoring at 3,73 while this weekend's opponent - UMass-Lowell - is fourth at 3.55. Maine is seventh at 3.48.
And those poor Alabama-Huntsville followers. They are last in the nation in scoring with 32 goals n 27 games (1.19), and 57th out of 58 teams on defense at 4.07 goals per game allowed.
