The Boston Red Sox may have plugged a hole in their roster with the signing of free agent outfielder Cody Ross.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports tweeted on Monday: Source: Cody Ross to #RedSox. #MLB
Ross was one of the heroes for the San Francisco Giants on their way to the 2010 World Series Championship. Acquired in mid-season, Ross hit .294 in the postseason, with five home runs and 10 RBI over 15 games. He won the NLCS MCP award.
In 2011, Ross hit.240 with 14 home runs and 52 RBIs in 121 games.
Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe wrote that Ross would provide the Red Sox with depth in the outfield. Carl Crawford is not expected to be ready to start the season after wrist surgery and backup Mike Aviles could be needed at shortstop following the weekend trade of Marco Scutaro.
