A collection of numbers and notes from the gigantic 13-0 Red Sox win over the Blue Jays in Toronto on Sunday afternoon.

TORONTO — Will Middlebrooks' individual performance (three home runs), the Red Sox's collective performance (six home runs, a 13-0 win) and the team's 4-2 start to the season all made for some notable numbers Sunday. Here's a collection:

  • The last time the Red Sox hit six home runs in a game was July 7, 2011, against the Orioles. Jacoby Ellsbury was the only player who went deep in Sunday's game who also went deep in the 2011 game. The Red Sox record for home runs in a game is eight, from July 4, 1977, against the Yankees.

  • The last time the Red Sox had a shutout win this big was also against Toronto, at Rogers Centre, on Sept. 6, 2011. Boston won 14-0 with Jon Lester on the mound, and the season spiraled out from there. Former Sox manager Terry Francona called a meeting following that game because of actions he didn't approve of, despite the lopsided win.

  • Will Middlebrooks said the last time he hit three home runs in a game was high school. The last time a Red Sox player did it was on June 24, 2010, when Dustin Pedroia had a field day against the Rockies.

  • Middlebrooks had 14 total bases Sunday. Pedroia is also the last Sox player to collect at least 14 total bases in a game, that same June day in 2010. He had 15. The Red Sox record is 16, by Fred Lynn, from June 18, 1975.

  • At 24, Middlebrooks is the youngest Sox player to go deep three times in a game since a 24-year-old Jim Rice did it on Aug. 29, 1977, against the A's.

  • Oh, April. Seven teams entered Sunday with fewer home runs on the season than Middlebrooks hit Sunday, including the Red Sox. The Sox, Dodgers, Marlins and Astros all started the day with two home runs. The Padres and Royals came in with one homer, and the Pirates entered with none.

  • The Pirates entered Sunday with just six runs scored the whole season. Boston matched that in three innings.

  • The last time the Red Sox had won the first two series of a season was 2006. The last time they took back-to-back series at any point was July 27-Aug. 1, 2012, when they took two of three from first the Yankees then Tigers.
