Auto Racing Links: Ted Christopher ready for a busy 2012; Joey Logano, Sergio Pena, upcoming racing shows

Ted Christopher is New England's version of a Ken Schrader or a Kenny Wallace - name the time, the place and what kind of car he'll be driving, and he'll be there.

Christopher, 53, will begin his 2012 Modified racing season next month when he ventures South for the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Shawn Courchesne of the Hartford Courant recently spoke to T.C. about the upcoming season, in which he plans to run full-time on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

  • Richie Pallai Jr. will drive the No. 93 SK Modified, owned by Christopher, in 2012 at Stafford Motor Speedway.

  • NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Joey Logano - a native of Middletown, Conn. - returns to his home state Sunday for a fundraiser at On Track Karting in Wallingford.

  • Sergio Pena will drive the No. 1 Toyota in his third season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.

  • Northeastern Midget Association drivers, beware. Joey Payne is returning to run the full schedule in 2012.

  • New England race fans will get their preseason fix at a pair of upcoming shows: The Racers' Expo next month in Marlborough, and the Need for Speed Motorsports Expo in March at the Big E in West Springfield.
