Edelman will be in New York through Thursday.
There hasn’t been much news surrounding Julian Edelman since free agency began. And now that some has finally arrived, it likely isn’t what New England Patriots fan want to hear.
After weeks of inactivity, the free-agent wide receiver arrived in New York to visit with the Giants on Wednesday. He’s scheduled to come back for another meeting on Thursday, according to USA Today.
Outside of a sniff from the Cleveland Browns, this is the first serious suitor that Edelman has found.
Edelman caught 21 catches for 235 yards with three touchdowns last season, though his season was cut short after suffering a broken foot in Week 13. He also suffered a broken hand and a concussion at various points in the season.
Those injuries will likely cause the Giants, or any other team, to take pause before committing to Edelman, so the Pats may still have a chance to keep the former college quarterback in town.
If New England wants Edelman to add depth to a shallow wide receiver group, now may be the time to step up.
