Everyone is picking the Pats over the Ravens this week.

tom-brady.jpgNew England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady looks on during practice at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., Friday, Jan. 20, 2012. The Patriots are scheduled to host the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship game on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Read why we all like the Patriots this week while you wait for kickoff. Here's a hint: New England has Tom Brady and Baltimore doesn't.

Vernon Hill, The Republican: Patriots 27, Ravens 21

On offense, the Patriots have too many weapons, the Ravens not enough. The possible wild card is the Patriots’ maligned defense. Sure, the D looked good against the Broncos. But the Ravens have a better quarterback, running back and receivers.

Ben Larsen, MassLive.com: Patriots 34, Ravens 20

The Denver Broncos were a warm-up act for the real thing. The Patriots will be tested mightily Sunday but will come out on top. While Ray Rice will certainly be tough to contain, the Ravens' lack of a consistent air attack will prevent Baltimore from keeping up with Tom Brady and the Patriots offense. On the arm of Brady, the Patriots will be singing the song of redemption.

Ron Chimelis, The Republican: Patriots 24, Ravens 14

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The Pats learned from their 2010 playoff loss to the Ravens, plus they are peaking at the optimum time.

Erik Gallant, Masslive.com: Patriots 26, Ravens 22

Clash of opposites amounts to a game with a lot of field goals. New England's double tight-end set is the difference maker, forcing Baltimore's defense to play outside its comfort zone.

Russ Held, The Republican: Patriots 38, Ravens 20

Here we are again . . . Ravens at the Patriots. It wasn't long ago that playoff games (and wins) flew by as an afterthought. But how many Patriots' fans are still stuck on 2009 and a 24-0 first-quarter deficit to Baltimore? Victory Sunday would be as sweet as any - save for another shot at the Giants. Might it be possible to exorcise playoff demons in back to back weeks? Look for the Patriots to take care of Step 1, in convincing fashion.

Ed Kubosiak, MassLive.com: Patriots 31, Ravens 20

There has been too much focus on New England’s easy victory over Denver and Baltimore’s relatively shaky win over Houston last week. Every week is a different week, and other than the ankle injury Ed Reed suffered near the end of the Ravens win over the Texans last week has no impact on this week. I think too many New England fans are underestimating Baltimore. They were the only team in the AFC playoff field that I felt could give the Patriots trouble. So why am I picking the Patriots to win? I believe Tom Brady is on a mission this year, it’s that simple. Combine Brady’s desire to cement his legacy with a Ravens team that is good, but not great, and the Patriots are set up as well as they could hope to be for a return trip to the Super Bowl. Home field advantage will matter in this game as Baltimore is just 4-4 on the road, with losses at Jacksonville, at Seattle and at San Diego (a 34-14 loss on Dec. 18). Those are ugly losses. As good as Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs and the rest of the Ravens defense are I think they are going to have issues covering not only Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, but also Danny Woodhead and Wes Welker over the middle of the field. New England’s creative offensive scheme should be able to force Lewis away from the line of scrimmage and into pass coverage in space, where he’ll have trouble covering a shifty speed guy like Woodhead. If the offensive line can protect Brady, and I think they will, the Patriots will put up points.

Nick Underhill, Patriots reporter: Patriots 27, Ravens 24

The feeling earlier in the week was that the Patriots would win the game. Nothing has changed since then. The New England defense still has issues, but it’s starting to play better and last week’s tune up against the Denver Broncos’ multifaceted rushing attack should have prepared them for whatever Rice is going to throw at them. It’s not going to be easy, and it will likely go back and forth, but in the end Tom Brady will be too much for the Ravens’ defense.
