Amherst women's basketball stays perfect.
Caroline Stedman’s layup with 18 seconds left ended a series of three lead changes in the final 1:45 and gave the Amherst College women’s basketball team a 51-50 victory over Colby on Saturday in Waterville, Maine.
Trailing by seven (48-41) with 4:34 remaining in the game after a jumper by Colby’s Jayde Bennett, Amherst went on an 8-0 run, capped by a Marcia Voigt layup, to take a 49-48 lead with 1:07 left.
Rachael Mack gave the Mules a 50-49 lead with a layup of her own, setting up Stedman’s winning basket and a Jackie Renner block to seal the win for the Jeffs.
Amherst stays undefeated with a 17-0 (5-0 NESCAC) record, while the Mules fall to 12-3 (3-2 NESCAC).
Amherst’s Megan Robertson scored a game-high 18 points to go along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Stedman finished with 14 points, two rebounds, four assists and two blocks, while Kim Fiorentino tallied 13 points, three assists, two blocks and three steals.
Mack had 14 points, five rebounds and two blocks for Colby.
MCLA 90, Fitchburg State 64: Jen Wehner had a monster game, tallying 24 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks for MCLA (8-8, 2-2 MASCAC).
Alie Dobrovolc also had quite a game, posting 25 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
Danielle Scolpino flirted with a triple double, compiling eight points, seven rebounds and eight assists for the Trailblazers.
Wheaton 63, Springfield 48: Kelley Slattery netted a game-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds for Springfield (10-6, 6-3 NEWMAC).
Framingham State 71, Westfield State 59: Jen Ashton tallied 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five steals for visiting Westfield State (8-10, 1-4 MASCAC).
University of New England 73, Western New England 42: Emily Savino scored nine points and added three rebounds for Western New England (6-10, 5-4 CCC).

Springfield 67, Clark 57: Alex Berthiaume (Springfield) netted 17 points for Springfield at Blake Arena.
Nick Sienkiewicz was the only other Pride player in double figures with 13 points (12-5, 4-1 NEWMAC).
University of New England 70, Western New England 69 (OT): Daniel Minto played a stellar game, posting a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds for the Western
New England (5-10, 2-7 CCC).
MCLA 84, Fitchburg State 79: Jamal Brown (Commerce) scored 22 points and added nine rebounds, two assists and three steals for MCLA (5-12, 2-2 MASCAC).
WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY Ž
Williams 4, Colby 3 (OT): In Williamstown, Gabrielle Vukasin scored a pair of goals and also netted the game-winner in overtime for Williams (9-7).
WRESTLING Ž
STCC wins two of three: Springfield’s Bui (West Springfield) and Nick Perez (Putnam) both went 3-0 on the day for STCC and Patrick Hope (Agawam) went 2-1.
STCC defeated UConn 34-18 and Hudson Valley 37-12, but fell to MIT 25-24.
