Michael Pereira, who leads UMass with eight goals, was benched for Tuesday's game.
BURLINGTON, Vt. - University of Massachusetts leading goal-scorer Michael Pereira was left out of the lineup for Tuesday night's important Hockey East game with Vermont..
Apparently, Pereira was benched for his play in Saturday night's 4-0 loss at Lowell. He leads the team with eight goals, and also has six assists. The 14 points is tied for second on the team with Conor Sheary. T.J. Syner tops the team with 16 points.
Four of Pereira's goals have come on the power play, but the power play has gone 0 for 12 over the last two games.
Also sitting out was defenseman Adam Phillips. Phillips appeared fatigued in the games last weekend, and we had called for UMass coach Toot Cahoon to rest him this game.
Freshman defenseman Mike Busillo got the start over Phillips, and was listed as partnering with Conor Allen.
Up front, Danny Hobbs, who missed the game at Lowell, was back in the lineup. He's slated to play on line with Eric Filou and Troy Power. Branden Gracel is marked at center between Syner and Sheary.
Jeff Teglia is the starting goaltender.
Senior Rob Madore, is going in the nets for UVM.
