Burris accepted a job with the Miami Dolphins.
AMHERST — University of Massachusetts cornerbacks coach Jeff Burris has left the program for a job with the Miami Dolphins, head coach Charley Molnar confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
Molnar did not want to comment further on the matter before speaking with his team, which returns from spring break over the weekend and begins spring practice Monday.
A ten-year NFL veteran with the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals, Burris joins the staff in Miami to serve as the assistant defensive backs coach and quality control assistant under head coach Joe Philbin, according to MaroonMusket.com, which also reported that safeties coach Ted Daisher will take control of the UMass secondary until Burris' position is filled.
Burris was a proponent of unusual training tactics for his cornerbacks, which appeared to have positive effects on the development of freshmen Trey Dudley-Giles and D'Metrius Williams.
UMass safety Joe Colton tweeted that he was sad to see Burris go.
Sad to see coach Burris leave @coachjeffburris. Your a great man and great coach. Goodluck in the pros. Hope to see you there someday

Burris is the third UMass assistant to leave the team since the conclusion of last season, following offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike Kruczek and offensive line coach Ron Hudson.
