Garnett said he will play Wednesday night against the New Orleans Hornets after missing two consecutive games with an adductor strain and flu-like symptoms.

The last two Boston Celtics games have featured an irritating absence of basket stanchion-pounding, cussing-at-nobody-in-particular and near-perfect help defense from the center position.

But Kevin Garnett is ready for his return.

The center said he will play Wednesday night against the New Orleans Hornets after missing two consecutive games with an adductor strain and flu-like symptoms.

"Feeling better, feeling a lot better, thank you," he said at shootaround Wednesday, according to the Boston Globe. "I thought we played hard (in my absence). I thought we competed. You could see some of the small mistakes kind of cost us at the end (against Miami) but for the most part, I thought played together and played very, very hard. Those are good signs."

And yes, it was difficult for Garnett to miss Monday's 105-103 loss to the Miami Heat.

"Any time I don't play it's always a tough call," he said. "It was very tough not to be able to contribute."
