The rumors are already flying.
In an attempt to create a signing frenzy when free agency officially opens Monday, the NFL created a "legal tampering period" which opened Saturday night and allowed agents to discuss potential deals with teams.
Within minutes a few rumors started lying. The biggest one for the New England Patriots involved a name that will likely get fans excited.
Take this for what it is worth (I see it as solid). Agent just told me he hears Patriots have some interest in Mike Wallace.

Putting aside the fact that going after big names on the open market is very unBelichickian, it is interesting that Wallace was one of the first people contacted by the Patriots. However, there's a pretty big gap between showing "some interest" and actually signing someone to a contract.
And before anyone gets too excited, it's important to remember that 95 percent of the rumors whispered this time of year are baseless and/or designed to mislead. It's too soon to know where this one falls, but it's hard not to image the added dimension that Wallace, one of the league's premier deep threats, would bring to New England's offense if this rumor has any substance behind it.
