Wes Welker could still re-sign with the New England Patriots. But first, he reportedly plans to hit the open market.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Welker has no plans to re-sign with the Patriots before testing the free-agent market. Unrestricted free agents can officially sign with other teams beginning on March 12.
The wide receiver, who finished last season with 118 receptions for 1,354 yards and six touchdowns, played under the franchise tag last season, but New England opted not to franchise the five-time Pro Bowler again.
