Boston Red Sox outfielder Ryan Kalish is likely to require surgery that will keep him out of spring training, according to multiple reports.WEEI's Rob Bradford reported Friday afternoon that Kalish's latest injury issue is unrelated to the neck problems he went through during the 2012 season, calling the injury "an unspecified ailment."
Kalish, 24, batted .252/.305/.406 with four home runs and 24 RBI over 163 at-bats during the 2010 season, but has been bothered by several injury issues since then. Over 96 at-bats with the Red Sox in 2012, Kalish batted .229/.272/.260 with zero home runs and five RBI.
