Player to watch
Sean Johnson, G
Johnson lit up the Minutemen for 20 points in last season's 80-69 Dukes win in Pittsburgh, and with UMass now without its best perimeter defender in Jesse Morgan, the combination of Johnson and freshman Derrick Colter could give UMass problems defensively.
“It’s real tough not having him there on the floor, being the competitor that he is, and the type of person he is,” point guard Chaz Williams said of Morgan. “When it comes down to it, he was our best defender. Other guys will have to step up.”
Williams, along with senior Freddie Riley and freshman Trey Davis, both of whom will see their minutes increase in the wake of Morgan’s torn ACL, will be the ones to step it up defensively.
If they don't Johnson could have another big night.
