Pick and roll all day
UMass has played by far its best game in the half-court offense tonight — using the pick and roll to perfection to set up good shots for its inside players (especially Cady Lalanne) and Chaz Williams. Lalanne has been the biggest beneficiary, racking up a team-high nine points in the first 20 minutes.
Williams has been outstanding running the point, and has six points and four assists.
Foul play
Four Minutemen have been called for two fouls in the first half. Chaz Williams, Terrell Vinson, Raphiael Putney and Jesse Morgan.
Morgan in particular suffered from the whistle, playing just 1:21 before being called for his second foul, and played just three minutes in the half.
Friends in Loe places
Saint Louis forwawrd Rob Loe has had his best game of the year on the offensive end, racking up 14 points and doing it all over the court, working the offensive glass, getting to the line and even nailing back-to-back 3-pointers in the latter part of the half. The Minutemen will have to slow him down in the second.
