Brace is the latest player from the 2009 draft class to bust.

The New England Patriots released Springfield native Ron Brace Saturday afternoon.

A second-round pick in the 2009 draft, Brace played just 92 snaps this season and a total of 62 in 2011. He was a healthy scratch for the Super Bowl.

Brace is the latest player from that draft class to flame out, joining cornerback Darius Butler (second round), wide receiver Brandon Tate (third round) and linebacker Tyrone McKenzie (third round).

New England promoted wide receiver Kamar Aiken and defensive back Malcolm Williams, and activated defensive end Jermaine Cunningham following a four-game suspension, to fill out the 53-man roster.

ESPNBoston.com first reported the Brace release.

Looking back, that 2009 draft wasn't one of the better ones under Bill Belichick.

S Patrick Chung (second round) -- Recently lost his starting position and may not see a second contract from the team.

DL Ron Brace (second) -- Released Saturday.

DB Darius Butler (second) -- Released prior to last season after a rough 2010 season.

OT Sebastian Vollmer (second) -- Certainly one of the bigger hits. Has been one of the better right tackles in the NFL when healthy.

WR Brandon Tate (third) -- Caught 24 passes over two seasons before being released.

LB Tyrone McKenzie (third) -- Tore his ACL and spent a little time on the practice squad before being released in 2010.

OL Rich Ohrnberger (fourth) -- Appeared in five games. Signed with Arizona this offseason.

OL George Bussey (fifth) -- Never appeared in a game before receiving an injury settlement.

LS Jake Ingram (sixth) -- Was released eight games into the 2010 season.

DL Myron Pryor (sixth) -- Injuries have plagued his career.

WR Julian Edelman (seventh) -- An unexpected hit. He should record a second deal.

DT Darryl Richard (seventh) -- Spent some time on the practice squad before being waived.
