Chiarelli called Vigneault's comments about Marchand inappropriate and unprofessional.

What became a heated rivalry during last year's Stanley Cup Finals is clearly not going to dissolve any time soon between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks.

Things got more interesting Sunday when Canucks coach Alain Vigneault responded with comments towards Bruins coach Claude Julien about Brad Marchand defending himself when he clipped Canucks defenseman Sami Salo in the second period of Saturday's game.

As a result, Salo suffered a concussion.

Marchand had a phone hearing with league disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan Monday afternoon regarding the incident.

"That's stupid. That's a stupid comment. You know, what Marchand did there, you can end a player's career doing that," Vigneault said. "I've never seen Sami Salo take a run at any player in the NHL. All I've seen Sami Salo do is play with integrity and play the right way. Marchand, this is just my feeling on this, some day he's going to get it. Someday, somebody's going to say enough is enough and they're going to hurt the kid, because he plays to hurt players. In my mind, if the league doesn't take care of it, somebody else will."

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli fired back at Vigneault Monday saying he needs to take a lot at his own team.

"(Marchand's) no dirtier than maybe two or three of their players," Chiarelli said after team practice. "After a game like (Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks), you see all the high-handed propaganda, you feel the need to respond. Whether it's from GMs, coaches or players, I don't like to hear that kind of stuff."

He later added that Vigneault saying, "some day he's going to get it," was, "a real inappropriate comment. It's an unprofessional comment."

The point of all of this, no one here is an angel. Both teams are guilty of questionable dirty play. And the truth is no one is going to be right no matter what the end result is because neither side is going to be pleased.

Right now all we can do is wait and see if Marchand gets suspended or not.
