Houston wasn't pleased with what happened Monday night.
FOXBOROUGH – The Houston Texans stated that Monday’s game against the New England Patriots was one of the biggest in franchise history in the days leading up to the contest.
It’s easy to say that the Patriots 42-12 win didn’t quite fall in line what what they had hoped for. Here is how the players reacted to the loss:
RB Arian Foster: “We just got out-played in all aspects of the game. We didn’t play well. I didn’t play well. It’s hard to come back from a deficit when you are playing a team of that caliber. We feel we’re a better team than that.”
CB Jonathan Joseph: “This is just a game, we got the playoffs coming. To be a championship team you got to go and fight and come out winning games like this.”
LB Bradie James: “We thought we would play a lot better. We know we really have some work to do. You can’t do anything but get better from this. This is a tough pill to swallow. I think we put too much emphasis on this being a huge game and not doing our approach.”
LB Whitney Mercilus: “Too many penalties and things like that, beating ourselves. We’ve got to be able to move the ball offensively and defensively, we’ve got to get to the passer and help out our secondary. We can’t get gashed in the run. We’ve just got to get better.”
OT Duane Brown: “That was just a total butt kicking. They had a lot of defense and we expected that. They gave us a lot of different looks, but nothing that really confused us.”
WR Andre Johnson (via the Houston Chronicle): “It was an ass-whipping.”
NT Shaun Cody: “We can’t dig ourselves that kind of a hole like that early in the game and expect to go out and win against a championship caliber team.”
QB Matt Schaub: “We very well could (play New England again), but we didn’t play well today and we need to move forward. It was frustrating because we pride ourselves on being a smart football team; a clean football team and we weren’t in the first half. … This business is very humbling at times and that’s what happened here tonight.”
