The seedings for the Western Mass boys and girls soccer tournaments are officially released. Here are the top seeds heading into the postseason.
In boys Division I, Ludlow (12-1-5) earned the No. 1 seed. The Lions will look to defend their Western Mass and state titles.
In boys Division II, the top seed went to Belchertown (18-0), also defending Western Mass champions.
In Division III, the Lenox boys team (6-6-5) earned the top honor. They too are the defending Western Mass champions.
Two teams that didn't get to finish their scheduled games because of Hurricane Sandy, were allowed into the tournament based on the games they did complete. Those teams were Wahconah (6-7-4) which earned the No. 10 seed in Division II and Lee (6-7-3) which earned the No. 10 seed in Division III.
On the girls side, East Longmeadow earned the top seed after finishing the season at 15-1-1. The Spartans are the defending Western Mass champs and will look to make it back to the state finals again this year. Last year they fell to Peabody, 1-0.
In girls Division II, no surprise that Belchertown earned the top seed after a near-perfect 16-0-2 season. The Orioles will look for their third straight WMass title, in their last year as a Division II team.
In Division III, Lenox (11-4-2), also the defending WMass champions, earned the No. 1 seed.
