Shaquille O'Neal will sign copies of his autobiography Saturday in Cambridge.
With nobody budging in the stalled NBA contract talks, NBA players are making plans for this season that don't involve their NBA teams.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski at Yahoo! Sports:
Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo and Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins, close friends, have been discussing the possibility of playing together overseas, and have had representatives inquiring on the possibilities, sources said.
Rondo and Perkins are interested in playing in higher-paying countries, such as Italy, Spain and Russia, sources said. There’s no deal in the works, and it’s unclear if there’s even a team that could financially put together the kind of contracts it would take to lure the players.
With little else to do, Rondo is apparently offering to help out his alma mater, the University of Kentucky, according to coach John Calipari, via wdrb.com:
"I got an interesting call from (Rajon) Rondo after the game, who says, 'Do you mind if I call the kids? I took some notes about the game.' I'm like absolutely. Call them and tell them what you think," said Calipari Thursday.
The retired Shaquille O'Neal has probably been busier than any current NBA player as he has a book to promote. He will be at the Harvard Book Store in Cambridge Saturday at 1 p.m. to sign copies of his autobiography, "Shaq Uncut."
O'Neal's co-author, Jackie MacMullan, chatted with ESPN Boston about the book.
