Tom Brady: Over/under 4,500 passing yards this season?

This one should be easy.

As Wes Welker said the other day, Tom Brady seems to have found the fountain of youth.

Somehow, as he continues to age, he keeps getting better at an age where players are supposed to begin their decline. Eventually Brady is going to begin his inevitable descent towards mortality, but they day still hasn’t reached the horizon.

Some may prefer the overall impact and sheer dominance of his 2007 season (4,806 passing yards, 50 touchdowns), but I tend to think that he was even better the last two seasons.

He threw four (!) interceptions in 2010 against 36 touchdown passes and racked up 5,235 yards last season. Now 35, there’s little evidence to suggest that Brady won’t keep climbing up the mountain this season.

So we set the line today at 4,500 yards. He’s only reached that mark twice in his career, but good luck finding someone who is willing to bet against Brady hitting it in 2012.

Erik Frenz, AFC East Lead Blogger: OVER

The NFL is a new game. Passing for over 4,000 yards used to be an accomplishment. Now, people just shrug their shoulders. That's just the way it is now that the rules have dictated teams air it out. Brady has never had a better season than the one he had playing in Josh McDaniels' offense, and now that the two are back together, there's no reason he shouldn't continue to light it up. It's up to the offensive line to block for him, though.

Mike Dussault, Pats Propaganda: OVER

Brady over/under 4,500 passing yards - He's only done it twice in his career ('07, '11) but I think he's got one more in him and this year should be it. 2007 was an explosive offense but it wasn't as seemingly diverse as the 2012 version. Barring an epically disappointing season from the re-tooled offensive line, or an unthinkable injury, all the weapons are there for Brady to torch the NFL once again.

Nick Underhill, MassLive.com: OVER

This is how good Brady is: I feel like if one of us were to take the under it would come off as a huge insult to his talent and this offense. Now, I’m not saying that anything under 4,500 passing yards should be viewed as a disappointment. I would consider it a great year if he finishes with 4,000 yards. But with the weapons and talent in this offense, the only “under” I’m willing to put above this paragraph is the one that's in my last name.

Stay tuned as we roll out a new over/under each morning for the next seven days.
