Westfield baseball slips by Amherst in quarterfinals

Lee Albertson knocked in both runs and pitched a complete-game to lead the Bombers over the Hurricanes in the Division I quarterfinals.

Fourth-seeded Westfield advances to Wednesday's semifinal against No. 9 Central, an upset winner over top-seeded Cathedral, at Szot Park in Chicopee.

Albertson allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter. He struck out five and threw just 97 pitches.

At the plate he had three of the eight hits for the Bombers. Conner Laraway and Aris Larancuent each had two hits as well.

Ryan Mathers had a hit and an RBI and Justin Carey two hits for Amherst. Mike Walkowicz pitched well in the loss.
