Jones had 4.5 sacks last season.
FOXBOROUGH — The New England Patriots made a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals for the 21st pick and selected Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones.
Jones (6-5, 265 pounds) recorded 4.5 sacks last year for Syracuse over seven games.
The Patriots sent the No. 27 picks and a third-round selection to the Bengals as compensation. It's the first time that the Patriots have moved up in the first round since 2003 when they selected Gerard Warren.
