Baseball: Both starting pitchers last 11 innings.

This was an innings-eating performance Tim Wakefield would be proud of.

Mahar Regional's Jake Paul and Southwick-Tolland Regional's Bob Hamel each threw the first 11 innings - all scoreless - for their respective baseball teams Friday.

However, the game went 12, and that's when Southwick came through. Tommy Mahoney singled in Joe Kucienski in the bottom of the 12th to give the Rams a 1-0 victory.

"Both kids threw phenomenal," Southwick coach Tim Karetka said. "When you go through that many innings, though, you rack up a lot of pitches."

Kyle Manley led Southwick with three hits, while Greg Richard had two for Mahar.
