The Patriots may be looking to add depth at running back.
The New England Patriots are apparently still looking to make improvements to their running game.
The team hosted free-agent running backs Tim Hightower and Ryan Grant for visits on Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Hightower, 25, suffered a torn ACL last season and was placed on season-ending injured reserve by the Washington Redskins in Week 7 after running for 321 yards. His best came in 2010 when he ran for 736 yards while playing for the Arizona Cardinals.
Grant, 29, ran for more than 1,200 yards in 2008 and 2009, but was limited to one game in 2010 due to ankle injury. He ran for 559 yards last season while splitting carries with James Starks.
New England currently has Danny Woodhead and second-year players Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley under contract at running back.
UPDATE: According to the Boston Globe, the Patriots also hosted former Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai for a visit.
Addai, who will turn 29 in May, ran for 433 yards last season. He posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2006 and 2007 to start his career.
