UMass will face Kansas State for the third time in 11 years in 2013.
In a letter to alumni and fans, Kansas State athletic director John Currie announced that Kansas State would host UMass in 2013.
The game is the second confirmed nonconference game for 2013. The other is a home tilt with Vanderbilt at Gillette Stadium.
This will be the third time UMass has played the Wildcats, losing to them in 2003 and 2009.
WALK-ON: The Times-Heald Record of Middletown, N.Y. reported that kicker Jeremy Stinson of Newburgh Free Academy will be a preferred walk-on in Amherst this fall.
Stinson only kicked four field goals but he appears to have plenty of leg strength with 40 touchdbacks.
UMass was just 8 of 14 in field goals last year with senior Brandon Yelovich and sophomore Brandon Levengood. Yelovich is gone, and based on the spring roster so are three other kickers from last falls roster: Caleb Violette, Andrew Ortiz and Igor Garcia.
Coach Charlie Molnar did not recruit any kickers in his first class, saying UMass already had too many scholarships at that position.
Now it's only Levengood, who lost the starting job to Yelovich during the New Hampshire game after two missed extra points.
