Out of the fire and into the nuclear reactor, or something like that.
Hustle Belt, a Mid-American blog, wrote a piece on the difficult non-conference schedule for UMass football as the Minutemen face UConn, Vanderbilt, Michigan and Indiana.
The writer is particularly impressed by the fact that UMass did not - and has no intention to - schedule any FCS teams in a transition year to make the record look a little better.
UConn certainly did when it left the Atlantic 10 for the Big East, taking on the likes of Rhode Island and Northeastern, but would have nothing to do with UMass.
The non-MAC schedule is considered the toughest in FBS in 2012 by SB Nation, which applauds the Minutemen for not easing into FBS.
